Dave received his BBA in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati . He joined Battelle & Battelle LLP, initially through a co-op program in 1975, and became as a full-time staff member upon graduation. Dave was promoted to Manager in 1983, and became a Partner in 1987. He has served on the Management Committee since 1994. Dave has extensive experience consulting with businesses and business owners in all areas of taxation and has developed an additional expertise in business valuations, and leads the firm's Business Valuations Practice Group. He obtained his CVA (Certified Valuation Analyst) certification from the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts in January 1999 and his ABV (Accredited in Business Valuations) certification from the American Institute of CPAs in December 2006.

He has been active in professional organizations, having served as past President of the Dayton Chapter of the Ohio Society of CPAs. He is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, and the Ohio Society of CPAs. Dave has served as past President of the Dayton Sertoma Club, and is a past member of the Miami Valley Health Foundation Board of Trustees.
